TEHRAN: A network linked to 1S1S suicide bombers has been arrested in Iran. The group was planning attacks during the anniversary of Ruhollah Khomeini’s death.

Iranian media reported the arrests on June 4. The information came from Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the IRGC.

The group was accused of planning sabotage and bomb attacks. Their targets were events marking the death anniversary of the Islamic Republic’s founder.

The operation was described as complex. It was carried out by Iran’s counter-terrorism units.

The arrests were made in several provinces. These included Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and Alborz.

A total of 13 suspects were detained. They included the network’s leader, operational commanders, and suicide bombers.

Explosive vests and backpacks were also seized. Authorities did not reveal the suspects’ identities or their specific targets.

The arrests reflect Iran’s ongoing efforts to block 1S1S plots. Such plots have been foiled in the past during major public events.
