QUETTA: Women’s cycling race was organized at the Shola Sports Complex in Quetta through a joint effort of the Pakistan Army and the Quetta District Cycling Association.
The event was organized in order to promote healthy, constructive activities and provide a platform for women athletes in Balochistan.
The 5.9-kilometre race drew a large number of female participants from various age groups. In this sense, the riders showcased their skills and determination as they navigated an attractive yet challenging route designed to test both endurance and technique.
So far, the organizers said the strong participation reflected growing interest in sports among women in the province.
Furthermore, position holders were awarded cash prizes, medals and certificates in recognition of their performance. In addition, special prizes were also given to the youngest and oldest participants to encourage involvement across all age categories.
The participants expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s role in supporting sports initiatives, noting that such events contribute to a healthier and more active society.
They said that increased opportunities for women in sports help build confidence and promote a positive image of Balochistan.
Meanwhile, many participants emphasised the importance of continuing such activities. They said that the encouraging turnout of women in the race was a welcome sign and demonstrated the need for more sports events tailored for female athletes.
They called for regular competitions and training opportunities to further highlight the talent and potential of women in the province.
Organizers described the event as a successful step toward strengthening community engagement and advancing women’s participation in sports. They reaffirmed their commitment to hosting more inclusive events in the future to support athletic development across Balochistan.
