PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated three Khawarij in the provincial capital. Two of their accomplices, however, managed to escape during the exchange of fire.
The operation was launched on verified intelligence indicating the presence of militant elements near the Blood Baba Cemetery on the Adazai Road, within the limits of Matani Police Station. The suspects were reportedly planning a major sabotage activity.
In this regard, the militants opened fire. The CTD personnel returned fire in what was described as a defensive action.
“During the ensuing exchange, three unidentified terrorists were killed, while two others fled the scene,” the CTD statement detailed. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of three Kalashnikov rifles and nine loaded magazines from the deceased individuals.
Furthermore, the operation is part of an ongoing series of targeted actions across the province. In addition, the CTD representatives stated that these operations are being conducted on the direct instructions of the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the stated objective of the complete eradication of terrorism from the region.
However, the senior police officials, including the Inspector General and the Additional IG of CTD, commended the raiding team for the successful operation.
They stated that such actions to protect the lives and property of citizens are praiseworthy and affirmed that the pace of these targeted operations will be intensified in the future.
