PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has killed two most-wanted terrorists in a successful intelligence-based operation in Tank district.
According to CTD, the Dera Region team conducted the operation in the Sheikh Autar area of Gomal Police Station, Tank, based on credible intelligence.
The goal was to eliminate high-profile terrorists and ensure public safety.
During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD team, leading to a 40-minute gun battle.
After the exchange of fire, two terrorists belonging to the TTP Mushtaq Group — Imdadullah and Tauqeer — were found dead.
Weapons recovered from the deceased included two Kalashnikov rifles, six magazines, ammunition, and two bandoliers.
The CTD stated that both terrorists were involved in several major attacks, including an IED attack in which 5 policemen were martyred, taking policemen hostage at Government Girls Middle School, Rori, an IED attack on a police van in Kanori Patan that killed 2 policemen, attack on a police mobile on Dera Tank Road, attack on a judges’ convoy on Tank Road, targeted killing of Head Constable Aziz, and abduction and murder of Constable Rehan.
The Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Additional IG CTD have praised the Special Weapons and Tactics team for the successful operation and reiterated that security forces remain fully committed to eliminating terrorism.
