PESHAWAR: Successful Intelligence-Based Operation by CTD Bannu Region in Lakki Marwat: 6 Khwarij Terrorists Killed in Encounter
Lakki Marwat: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu Region conducted a highly successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Shagai area under the jurisdiction of Gambila Police Station, District Lakki Marwat, against elements of the banned Khwarij (TTP) group.
According to the press release, confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area prompted the operation. As soon as the CTD SWAT team approached, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces.
In self-defense and to protect life and property, the CTD personnel responded with effective retaliatory fire. The exchange of fire lasted approximately 40 minutes. After the firing ceased, a search operation in the area led to the discovery of six terrorists killed in the encounter.
The identities of the killed terrorists are being ascertained, after which action will be taken against their facilitators and associates.
From the possession of the eliminated terrorists, the following arms and ammunition were recovered:
- 4 Kalashnikov rifles along with 10 magazines and 43 rounds
- 2 9mm pistols along with 4 magazines and 7 rounds
- 8 hand grenades
- 4 bandoliers
- 1 Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Zulfiqar Hameed, and Additional IG CTD commended the CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams for their professionalism, bravery, and timely action in the successful operation.
IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated that the courageous personnel standing shoulder-to-shoulder in defense of the motherland and the establishment of peace are the nation’s most precious asset. He emphasized that the blood of martyrs will not go in vain, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will continue its relentless struggle until terrorism is completely eradicated.
He further assured that security forces will pursue the Khwarij elements to their safe havens and bring them to justice. The fight against enemies of peace will continue until they are crushed and eliminated.
