DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has eliminated four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Jotar area of Dera Ghazi Khan DG Khan, foiling a major plot to attack police and other key institutions.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following credible intelligence that approximately 15 militants affiliated with the Fitna-ul-Khawarij group had gathered near Jotar village. The terrorists had reportedly finalized plans to carry out attacks on law enforcement personnel and government installations.
As the CTD team moved in to cordon off the location, the armed miscreants opened fire on the raiding party. In the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, CTD personnel effectively retaliated, killing four terrorists on the spot. However, the spokesperson confirmed that 11 other militants managed to flee the scene taking advantage of the terrain.
A massive search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to track down and arrest the escaped terrorists. The CTD added that a significant cache of weapons and explosives was recovered from the possession of the slain militants, including rifles, a large quantity of bullets, and other explosive materials.
The process of identifying the killed terrorists is currently underway. The CTD spokesperson reiterated the department’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism. “The Counter Terrorism Department is diligently pursuing its goal of a safe Punjab and is committed to uprooting the scourge of terrorism,” the spokesperson stated.
The department has also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious or terrorism-related activity to the nearest CTD helpline.
