Balochistan CS directs departments to activate social media accounts

Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan has directed all provincial departments to immediately activate their social media accounts to ensure the public receives timely updates on development projects.

QUETTA: In a  push for government transparency and efficiency, Balochistan Chief Secretary CS Shakeel Qadir Khan has directed all provincial departments to immediately activate their social media accounts to ensure the public receives timely updates on development projects.

The directive was issued during a high-level Secretaries Committee meeting chaired by the CS in Quetta. The meeting focused on key administrative issues, including ensuring staff attendance, transparent appointments to vacant posts, and the effective monitoring of development projects.

CS Khan emphasized that the provincial government’s top priority is the provision of basic facilities like health, education, water, and infrastructure. He stated that for this to happen, all officers and employees must be present at their duty stations and committed to public service. The new social media initiative is designed to bridge the communication gap between the government and citizens, fostering a direct line for sharing the latest information on public works.

Further underlining the commitment to accountability, Khan revealed that the Monitoring and Evaluation Section has been fully activated to oversee development projects. This dual approach of public communication and rigorous internal oversight aims not only to ensure the timely completion of projects but also to restore public trust in the provincial government’s ability to deliver.

Concluding the meeting, the CS issued clear instructions to all departmental secretaries to fill vacant posts within their jurisdictions strictly on the basis of merit, reinforcing the government’s stance on transparency in recruitment. This comprehensive set of measures signals a concerted effort to improve governance and service delivery across Balochistan.

In a separate move to tackle the persistent issue of student disengagement, the Balochistan Education Department has launched an innovative Early Warning System designed to proactively identify and support children at risk of dropping out of school.

The new initiative aims to shift the approach from reacting to dropouts to preventing them. The system will utilize specialized software to continuously monitor and assess student performance and attendance patterns. By analyzing this data, the software will flag students who show early signs of disengagement, such as a decline in academic performance or a sudden increase in absenteeism, allowing for timely intervention before they leave the education system altogether.
