COLOMBO: ICC to Hold Emergency Meeting with Asian Cricket Boards Ahead of Pakistan-India T20 World Cup Clash

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a significant decision regarding the deteriorating relations between Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, with implementation scheduled before the high-profile Pakistan-India match.

This was confirmed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam in an interview with a local newspaper.

He revealed that the ICC has invited the heads of cricket boards from Asian countries to a meeting in Colombo before the Pakistan-India T20 World Cup match on 15 February.

The board presidents will also be seated together in the pavilion during the match.

According to Aminul Islam, the purpose of the invitation is to facilitate direct dialogue between the leaders of these cricket boards to resolve ongoing issues.

The BCB chief stated that the ICC has scheduled this meeting in Colombo in the form of an official session.

He explained that the objective of the meeting is to improve the strained relations between India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, which had deteriorated in the lead-up to the World Cup and negatively impacted the global cricket environment.

The meeting will include the presidents of the cricket boards from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

Aminul Islam added that the ICC wishes for this session to take place before 15 February, allowing for meaningful discussions and potential resolution of tensions.
