QUETTA: The government has identified one of the five militants involved in the September 30 suicide attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in Quetta as an Afghan national.
Furthermore, the attacker has been identified as Habibullah alias Taha or Takal Badri, son of Bismillah Jan, a resident of Hajiano Killi village in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province, Afghanistan.
The family reportedly includes three brothers Muhammad Jan, Samiullah, and Abdul Wahid along with two uncles, Syed Jan Muhammad and Mir Muhammad.
In this regard, the devastating attack claimed the lives of eight civilians and left over 40 others injured, including both security personnel and nearby residents.
The assault, carried out with explosives, targeted the FC Headquarters, a key installation responsible for maintaining security in Balochistan.
In this sense, the LEAs have since intensified their investigation, working to trace the network behind the attackers and determine possible cross-border links.
Moreover, the authorities say the identification of an Afghan national among the attackers underscores growing concerns about terrorist infiltration across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, despite ongoing counterterrorism operations.
In addition, the government official have reasserted their dedication and commitment to ensuring regional peace and have urged continued cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan to curb militant movements and prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Quetta attack has drawn strong condemnation from both local and federal leaders, who expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives and praised the security forces for their swift response.
