Critics slam PTI's "Restraint" as inadequate response to KP security crisis

LOWER DIR: The KPK government of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has called for restraint, cautioning against widespread operations, while others argue that a stronger and more coordinated strategy is necessary to protect lives and secure lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The seven personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got martyrdom in Dir following a deadly attack carried out by Fitna Al Khawarij described by officials as extremists targeting the peace and stability of the region.

The incident occurred late Friday night when the FC team was ambushed during a routine patrol. The assailants, identified as members of militant groups, opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the loss of seven brave soldiers, all of whom hailed from the Pashtun community.

In this sense, the authorities condemned the attack, terming it part of a broader pattern of violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant outfits have repeatedly targeted law enforcement agencies and civilians.

Furthermore, the funeral prayers for the martyrs were offered with full military honors. Senior military officials, local leaders, and community members attended the ceremonies, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers.

In this regard, the tragedy has reignited debate over counter-terrorism measures in the province.
