SOHBATPUR: The directives of the Home Department Balochistan, a crackdown against electricity theft has been launched in Sohbatpur district. The initiative aims to curb rising incidents of power pilferage, ensure protection of public resources, and promote transparency in service delivery.
Furthermore, the campaign was formally initiated following an important meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sohbatpur, Fareeda Tareen. The QESCO authorities have begun targeted operations across the district as part of the first phase of the crackdown.
Two cases of electricity theft have already been registered, with the investigations handed over to the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) for further legal proceedings.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Fareeda Tareen reasserted the administration’s commitment to eliminating electricity theft in collaboration with QESCO and law enforcement agencies.

She focused that misuse of public resources would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She further mentioned that protecting public resources and ensuring fair distribution of electricity is a responsibility owed to the citizens.
The crackdown, she stressed, is not only about enforcement but also about creating awareness among the public regarding the adverse impacts of electricity theft on the economy and on ordinary consumers who suffer from load shedding and inflated bills.

In this sense, the crackdown has been welcomed by many residents, who expressed hope that it will lead to improved power supply and discourage those who exploit the system at the expense of law-abiding consumers.
