Qilla Abdullah – The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), with the support of local law enforcement agencies, continued its crackdown against poppy cultivation for the sixth consecutive day in Teh Dobandi and surrounding areas of Qilla Abdullah district.
During the latest operation, poppy cultivation spread over 130 acres of land was cleared. Out of this, 55 acres had already been destroyed due to shortage of water, while 75 acres were eradicated directly by the teams.
Officials reported that so far, a total of 654 acres of poppy fields have been cleared in the ongoing campaign.
The ANF registered one more case, taking the number of FIRs filed to 10. However, no arrests or recovery of equipment have been reported.
The operation was carried out using 10 weedicides spray machines, four grass-cutting machines, and two tractors.
Security arrangements included 14 personnel of FC Wing 138 with two vehicles, seven ANF officials with one vehicle, and 50 Levies Force personnel along with laborers using seven vehicles.
The crackdown has now expanded to multiple villages, including Lahrr, Lurrgi, Abbas, Zarnaza, Bunyadi, Karrak, Shaas, Kherzai, Kach Addozai, Toor Kaan, Chinar, Baillo, and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, the Excise and Narcotics Department did not take part in the operation as its permission to conduct field activities expired on September 30.
It is worth mentioning that unfortunately, cultivating and supplying of drugs in Balochistan has been a bitter reality adding to the wounds of the province.
The drugs supply in the educational institutes and other markets have caused addiction to youth.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of drugs-trade are the militant groups who not only collect hefty amounts to carry out the militancy in Balochistan but they also deliberately make drugs as a tool to force the youth to join their camps in order to urge them for terrorist attacks using drugs as rewards.
