ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s “all-weather, time-tested, and ironclad” friendship with China, calling it a pillar of peace, stability, and prosperity for both nations.
Shehbaz Sharif made the remarks in a post on X after meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday night. He said Pakistan would further strengthen its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with Beijing and underlined CPEC’s central role in driving socio-economic progress and regional connectivity.
The prime minister, who will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin later this month, said he looks forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping during the visit.

Earlier, the Chinese top diplomat called on Shehbaz Sharif, where Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar joined the discussions. According to Sharif’s office, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for China on core issues and pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan aims to expand collaboration with China in trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, industrialization, and mining.
Wang praised Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity and said Beijing seeks to elevate relations to “new heights of cooperation.”
Earlier Thursday, Wang and Ishaq Dar co-chaired the sixth round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, while President Asif Ali Zardari also thanked China for supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty, development, and its stance on Jammu and Kashmir.
