QUETTA: The Directorate of Inquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment has launched a formal investigation into the Balochistan Sports and Youth Affairs Department following serious allegations of financial misconduct. The probe, initiated on January 8, 2026, centers on claims of illegal fund manipulation and abuse of authority.
According to officials, a formal complaint alleges that public funds allocated for departmental activities since January 1, 2024, were misappropriated through fraudulent practices. The nature of the suspected activities suggests a potential diversion of resources meant for athlete development, event organization, and facility management.
Acting on the directives of Deputy Director Sheikh Munir Ahmed, the anti-corruption body has taken swift action by issuing a comprehensive demand for records to the department. The requested documentation is extensive and aims to trace the flow and use of funds.
The investigation has been classified as urgent, with clear instructions for the Secretary of Sports to prioritize the provision of all requested information without delay. The Anti-Corruption Establishment emphasized that the inquiry is part of a broader effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds within Balochistan’s sports sector. Any irregularities confirmed during the investigation will be addressed strictly according to the law.
This probe marks a significant step by provincial authorities to audit a key department responsible for youth engagement and sports development. The outcome is likely to have considerable implications for administrative accountability in the region.
