ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s western borders, curbing the oil smuggling, the Frontier Corps (FC), Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG), Pakistan Army, and other government departments have intensified their coordinated efforts to control the unauthorized movement of Iranian oil into Balochistan.
In this sense, in order to strike a balance between curbing smuggling and ensuring local economic sustenance, the government introduced a structured mechanism under which Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of districts bordering Iran issue permits for limited use of Iranian fuel.
Furthermore, the implementation of the Online Data Repository (ODR) and other advanced border management systems, authorities have made measurable progress in controlling fuel smuggling.
The collaborative framework backed by the Ministry of Interior, provincial administrations, and local law enforcement aims to gradually phase out unauthorized trade by providing alternate economic opportunities to the local population.
