JUI (Nazryati) urges provincial control of Balochistan’s coast and resources

Balochistan’s coast and resources

QUETTA: Leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Nazryati) Pakistan have called on the federal government to give Balochistan authority over its coastline and natural resources, and to take concrete steps to end the province’s long-standing sense of deprivation.

Acting party chief Maulana Abdul Qadir Loni, Convener Mufti Shafiuddin, Maulana Mahmoodul Hassan Qasmi, Information Secretary Haji Syed Abdul Sattar Shah Chishti, Finance Secretary Haji Hayatullah Kakar, and Balochistan General Secretary Hafiz Abdul Ahad Kabdani issued the statement.

They urged the government to address Balochistan’s burning issues by engaging all political parties in dialogue rather than relying on force. “The use of force has never solved problems; it has only aggravated them and fueled unrest,” they said.

The leaders alleged that some forces do not want to see Balochistan’s economic progress and accused the federal government of treating the province as “orphaned.” They claimed that all major development projects remain confined to Punjab, while Balochistan is pacified with promises and rhetoric.
