TURBAT: In a significant development for higher education in the region, the Commandant of Makran Scouts, Brigadier Umar Tahir, paid a visit to the University of Turbat, signaling strengthened institutional support for the university’s ambitious development plans.
The meeting, held in the Vice Chancellor’s office, served as a platform to showcase the university’s rapid progress. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Gul Hassan briefed Brigadier Tahir on the institution’s significant achievements in both academic programs and infrastructure development in a relatively short time.
Professor Hassan emphasized the university’s commitment to aligning its curriculum with modern demands, announcing that over sixty educational programs will be offered for admissions in the Spring 2026 semester. He also detailed the university’s initiatives aimed at engaging youth in constructive activities, promoting essential digital skills, and fostering national unity.
Impressed by the progress, Brigadier Umar Tahir commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and his entire team. He assured the university of his full support in providing necessary resources to further boost educational and research activities. This support is expected to include essential items like furniture and computer systems, as well as assistance in establishing a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) laboratory.

Following the productive discussions, Brigadier Tahir was given a comprehensive tour of the university campus. He inspected key facilities, including the Senate Hall, faculty offices, academic blocks, and the ongoing and completed hostels under the Phase 2 expansion project. The tour was guided by Project Coordinator Dr. Kamal Baloch, who provided detailed briefings on the project’s quality, financial aspects, and the current pace of construction.
