Coast Guard seizes 2,200 Kg of narcotics, arrests 224 illegal immigrants in Gwadar

GWADAR: The Pakistan Coast Guard has achieved significant success in decisive operations against Iranian oil, narcotics, and human smuggling in Gwadar and adjacent coastal areas. During these operations, 224 illegal immigrants were apprehended, while in March alone, 2,264 kilograms of hashish and 120 bottles of liquor were seized.

These actions were carried out under the directives of Headquarters 12 Corps and were also discussed during a recent meeting of the District Coordination Committee.

According to a spokesperson, despite security challenges and concerns over potential terrorist threats, the Pakistan Coast Guard remains resolutely active in curbing illegal activities. Even amid protest demonstrations, road blockages, and other complex situations, the agency’s operations have continued uninterrupted and effectively.

During this campaign, multiple attempts at human trafficking were foiled, large quantities of narcotics were seized, and a severe blow was dealt to the smuggling of Iranian fuel. Strict surveillance was maintained over the transportation of smuggled fuel from Jiwani to Panwan, including the inspection of hidden compartments, identification of illegal storage sites, and unlicensed fuel stations.

The spokesperson further noted that while the closure and legal action against illegal petrol stations fall under the jurisdiction of relevant civil authorities, the Pakistan Coast Guard is in continuous coordination and is providing all possible support in this regard.

As part of the future action plan, proposals include increased patrolling of coastal areas, immediate registration of unregistered boats, enhanced monitoring of jetties, and strengthening of anti-smuggling measures at checkpoints.
