COAS visits flood-hit Punjab, vows Kartarpur Corridor repair

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited flood-affected areas of Punjab, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, to review disaster response measures and ongoing relief activities.

The Army Chief received detailed briefings from military commanders and civil administration officials regarding the current flood situation, the progress of relief operations, and preparedness for expected additional rainfall in the coming days. 

He expressed appreciation for the coordinated efforts of armed forces, civil institutions, and local authorities in safeguarding lives and minimizing damage.

Furthermore, Field Marshal Munir interacted with members of the Sikh community at Kartarpur and assured them that all flood-damaged religious sites, including the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, would be fully restored on priority. 

He underlined that the protection of minorities and their sacred places is a constitutional duty and a moral responsibility of the state. In this sense, the Sikh community warmly welcomed the Army Chief’s visit and expressed gratitude for the timely assistance provided by both military and civil agencies.

So far, Field Marshal Munir also conducted an aerial survey of Kartarpur Sahib to personally assess the extent of flood damage.

Field Marshal Munir was received in the region by Corps Commander Gujranwala at the start of his visit.
