QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has welcomed the United States’ decision to designate the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade as terrorist organisations.
The US State Department’s announcement, the CM commended the move and credited the federal government and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for effectively conveying Pakistan’s stance to the American leadership.
He said the decision indicated growing international recognition of the country’s concerns over the activities of such terrorist outfits.
“The BLA and Majeed Brigade have shed the blood of innocent people. No cause, ideology, or political objective can justify the deliberate targeting and killing of civilians,” Bugti added.
The chief minister further noted that the designation would strengthen Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism operations, particularly in Balochistan, where such groups have been involved in repeated acts of violence against civilians and security forces.
He focused on that the decision would aid Pakistan’s broader security strategy, enabling stronger international cooperation against violent extremism.
