KARACHI: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has urged national media to visit the province and showcase its true image to the world.
CM Balochistan lamented that Balochistan continues to be misrepresented or underreported in mainstream media despite various development initiatives and positive changes in the province.
CM Bugti said this while addressing a dinner hosted in honor of the Federal Executive Committee members of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), marking the organization’s 75th anniversary. The event took place at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi and was attended by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, and senior journalists from across the country.
He said that Balochistan is changing and the developmental progress that deserve attention, but unfortunately, misleading narratives often dominate the discourse about province.
Regarding the initiative taken by the incumbent provincial government for the welfare of the public, CM Bugti highlighted that the Balochistan government initiated several projects including the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, the People’s Train Service, and the People’s Air Ambulance, but unfortunately the national media have different priorities and completely ignoring the Balochistan development which need to be shown to the whole country, with the aim to counter the false narrative about the province.
CM Bugti also announced that the provincial government has allotted land for a dedicated media housing scheme, addressing a longstanding demand of journalists in Balochistan. The next phase will involve construction of homes on easy installments, he added.
