QUETTA: In a meeting with faculty heads and members from various universities on Friday, Balochistan Chief Minister CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti lauded teachers as the “guiding light” for the youth, whom he described as the nation’s most valuable asset and future architects. He asserted that with proper guidance from educators, the widening gap between the state and the younger generation can be bridged .
The Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the impact of modern media, stating that the strong editorial checks which once ensured news authenticity have severely weakened with the rise of social media. He noted that “the line between truth and falsehood has become extremely thin,” a problem he linked to the introduction of 3G and 4G services in Pakistan without first strengthening social values and institutional frameworks. This environment, he argued, has given rise to false propaganda that attempts to alienate youth from the state .
CM Bugti emphasized the heavy responsibility on teachers to guide students through research and clarity, underscoring that the state-citizen relationship is built on mutual rights and responsibilities. He firmly stated that armed resistance is not a solution to grievances .
Highlighting his government’s reforms, the Chief Minister announced that 16,000 contract teachers have been recruited, leading to the reopening of 3,200 schools that were previously closed. He also acknowledged the shared sacrifices of all ethnic groups—Baloch, Sindhis, Pashtuns, and Punjabis—during the creation of Pakistan, affirming that “this country belongs to everyone” .

Despite these efforts, CM Bugti lamented that a large share of available resources is consumed by non-development expenditures, leaving limited funds for public welfare. On higher education, he stressed that quality promotion is not about constructing buildings but about aligning with modern needs, urging that “we must live within our means” for sustainable development .
