CM Bugti reviews Balochistan dept performance

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting of the Secretaries Committee on Thursday to review the quarterly performance of provincial departments.

Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan briefed the meeting, saying that the performance of 38 departments was evaluated across 644 indicators.

According to the briefing, the Livestock Department ranked first in performance, followed by the Finance Department in second place and the Urban Planning and Development Department in third. The Law Department stood fourth, while Agriculture ranked fifth.

Among the low-performing departments, Local Government was placed first, followed by Women Development, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Labour and Manpower, and CMIT, respectively.

Chief Minister Bugti praised the heads of top-performing departments and directed weaker departments to improve their efficiency. He emphasized that good governance can gradually ease public hardships.

He said officials must work with dedication, honesty, and consistency to lift Balochistan out of its challenges. “No outsider will solve our problems — we must take responsibility ourselves,” he added.

The Chief Minister instructed all departments to ensure transparency in service delivery, decision-making, and administrative affairs.

He also urged departments to accelerate development projects to provide quick relief to citizens and strengthen public trust. “Balochistan’s progress depends on good governance and effective policy implementation,” he said.

At the start of the meeting, prayers were offered for SHO Lutf Ali Khosa, who was martyred in a recent encounter with terrorists in Bhag Nari.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Home Department has ordered the suspension of 3G and 4G internet services across Quetta district, citing security concerns.

According to an official notification, the suspension will take effect at midnight on Friday, October 31, and remain in place for 24 hours. During this period, all mobile internet and data services in Quetta will stay unavailable.
