QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Saturday praised security forces for a successful counter-terrorism operation in Panjgur, vowing to continue an unrelenting campaign against “Khawarij” elements until their complete eradication from the province.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister commended the “timely and effective” operation by “brave soldiers,” which he said resulted in the elimination of terrorists and thwarted their “nefarious anti-state designs.” He attributed the success to the forces’ “high level of training, operational capability, and unwavering resolve.”

“The professional competence and sacrifices of the security forces are a source of pride for the entire nation,” Bugti stated. He emphasized that at this “decisive stage” in the fight against terrorism, the public stands “shoulder to shoulder” with its armed forces.

The Chief Minister affirmed that operations targeting terrorists and their facilitators would persist “with full force and consistency.” He reiterated that ensuring sustainable peace and law and order is the government’s foremost priority, to be guaranteed “at all costs.”

Bugti issued a stern warning that any attempt to destabilize Balochistan’s peace would be met with a decisive response. “No space would be allowed for anti-state elements to operate in the province,” he declared, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy towards threats to regional security.

Meanwhile at least three individuals, including two women, sustained burn injuries in two separate gas explosions that rocked different areas of Quetta on Saturday, according to local police authorities.

The first explosion occurred in the Yousaf Homes locality on Sarki Road. Police reported that a gas leak accumulated inside a residential house, leading to a blast that caused panic in the neighborhood. A woman inside the home suffered burn injuries in the incident. Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide aid and secure the area.

Shortly after, a second explosion was reported from Qambrani Road. This blast, also triggered by a suspected gas leak, injured a husband and wife within their home.
