QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has formed a high-level coordination committee to resolve Gwadar’s water problem on an emergency basis.
According to details, CM Sarfaraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting to urgently resolve the growing water crisis in Gwadar, in which the establishment of a high-level coordination committee was announced.
Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Noor-ul-Haq Baloch will head the coordination committee, Director General GDA Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Hamood-ur-Rehman, Action Public Health Momin Ali, representatives of the Irrigation Department and KESCO was announced as the members of the committee. The committee has started its work immediately.
The first meeting of the coordination committee was also held at the GDA office, in which important points such as making the Shadi Kor Dam operational immediately, activating the Gwadar Port’s desalination plant to its full capacity and reviewing other alternative sources of water were discussed.
The committee also decided that water supply to the southern areas of the city, especially Mullah Band, will be started immediately through a storage tank with a capacity of 200,000 gallons in the newly constructed Koh Bin ward of GDA and a newly laid pipeline, on which practical work will be started in the next few days. The committee also inspected the new water storage tank with a capacity of 200,000 gallons located in Koh Bin of GDA and decided to activate it immediately. This tank will initially be supplied with 600,000 gallons of water daily from the desalination plant of Gwadar Port, which will be delivered to the relevant populations through the modern pipeline system of GDA. Along with this, the work of installing domestic connections will also be started in the next few days so that water can be supplied to the citizens as soon as possible.

The meeting also decided to increase the capacity of the existing boring system in Tehsil Santsar, install two more new tube wells, and connect them to Jiwani and other nearby settlements. In addition, emphasis was also placed on making water supply from sodium effective and making the water distribution system in the city modern, organized and transparent.
