QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti restated his government’s commitment to ending illegal trawling along the province’s coastlines and resolving long-standing grievances of local fishermen.
In this regard, he also mentions the deep-rooted challenges faced by the fishing communities of Balochistan, the Chief Minister condemned the unchecked activities of illegal trawlers, often from outside the province, which continue to exploit marine resources and deprive local fishermen of their livelihoods.

Furthermore, Bugti focused on that the provincial government is working on stringent policy measures in collaboration with maritime security agencies to implement a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal fishing. He also revealed that legislation is being prepared to enhance surveillance capabilities and impose heavier penalties on violators.

However, Bugti painted a positive image of Balochistan’s future, stressing the province’s vital role in regional connectivity through projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the development of Gwadar Port.
