CM Balochistan meets British high commissioner

Quetta: The British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, met with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, during which both sides agreed to strengthen the professional capacity of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police.

The meeting focused on a wide range of issues, including bilateral cooperation, the impacts of climate change, good governance, improving law and order, reforms in education and health sectors, and the province’s overall development strategy.

Chief Minister Bugti highlighted that climate change poses an extraordinary challenge, and in response, the province has established its first climate fund.

He further stated that continuous steps are being taken to improve governance and ensure transparency, adding that Rs. 14 billion was saved from the non-development budget in the last fiscal year.

High Commissioner Jane Marriott appreciated the government’s initiatives for promoting good governance and reform measures.

Both sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including specialized training programs to boost the professional capacity of the CTD police.
