Clashes between ANP and PTI Workers during Rally in Bara Bazaar, Several Injured
KHYBER: Violent clashes erupted between workers of the Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during an ANP protest rally in Bara Bazaar, resulting in several people being injured.
According to eyewitnesses, supporters of both parties came face-to-face during the gathering, and the situation quickly escalated into physical fighting.
Bricks and stones were freely used, injuring multiple workers. To bring the tense situation under control, police fired warning shots in the air to disperse the protesters.
ANP Khyber District President Abdul Razzaq Afridi held an emergency press conference and accused PTI of orchestrating an attack on peaceful ANP workers through “thuggish elements.”
He demanded that an FIR be registered immediately against Chief Minister Sahibzada Sulaiman Afridi.
Abdul Razzaq Afridi further warned that if PTI leadership does not apologize for the incident, ANP would not allow any future inauguration ceremonies to take place.
Tension continues to prevail in the area following the incident, and additional police personnel have been deployed.
