RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during his official visit to the country, the ISPR said on Thursday.
General Mirza also held separate meetings with Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence-II, Major General (Retd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.
During the visit, he toured the Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He delivered a talk on “Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Peace and Stability” and interacted with officers from 19 foreign countries attending the Command and Staff Course.
Both sides discussed regional and global security developments. General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong ties with Brunei and its resolve to further enhance defence and military cooperation.
Brunei’s Sultan and civil-military leadership praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
On arrival at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Headquarters, a military contingent presented General Mirza with a Guard of Honour.
Late in October, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had met with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, during his official visit to Jordan.
According to the ISPR statement, King Abdullah appreciated the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional peace and stability and expressed his desire to expand defence collaboration between the two countries.
Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also attended the meeting.
