Chinese Envoy Meets Ishaq Dar, Backs Pakistan’s Role in Regional Diplomacy

The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Tuesday, officials said.

Regional developments were discussed during the meeting. Pakistan’s continued efforts to facilitate contacts between the United States and Iran were appreciated by the Chinese envoy. China’s full support for lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond was reaffirmed.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China. The strength of bilateral relations was highlighted. The importance of continued high-level exchanges between the two countries was also emphasized.

Earlier, Dar held a telephone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The latest regional situation was discussed, according to a Foreign Office spokesperson.

The two leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and engagement for promoting peace and stability. It was agreed that close contact would be maintained.
