BEIJING, CHINA: China has issued a firm condemnation of military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, urging an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic negotiations.
In a statement on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared that the use of force is not a viable solution to international disputes and called on all parties involved to halt military operations immediately. He emphasized the need for all sides to work towards reconciliation to prevent further escalation in the region.
“Military action will not solve the problems; it will only create new ones,” Wang Yi was quoted as saying. He stressed that major world powers have a particular responsibility to play a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and achieving a ceasefire.
The Foreign Minister underscored the necessity of respecting the sovereignty and security of Iran and the Gulf countries. He called for all parties to return to the negotiating table as the only path toward a lasting and peaceful resolution.
In his remarks, Wang Yi characterized the ongoing conflict as one that “should not have happened.” He also explicitly rejected any notion of forced regime change, stating that such plans “do not gain popularity” and are not a viable political solution. China’s call for restraint underscores its position favoring stability and dialogue in the strategically vital Gulf
region.
