ISLAMABAD: In a significant boost to international academic cooperation, China has announced a generous, fully-funded scholarship program exclusively for Pakistani students pursuing Masters and PhD degrees. This initiative provides a golden opportunity for scholars to study in Chinese universities with all major expenses covered.

The comprehensive scholarship package includes a complete waiver of tuition fees, free university accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living stipend. This financial coverage removes the primary barriers to high-quality postgraduate education abroad. The scholarships are open to students from a wide range of disciplines, including various fields of engineering, natural sciences, and social sciences.

The application process for these coveted scholarships will be managed and facilitated by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC), which will serve as the central portal for candidates. Prospective applicants must submit their documents through the HEC’s official channels. It is crucial for interested students to note the imminent deadline: applications must be submitted no later than January 18, 2026.

This program is expected to strengthen the educational and cultural ties between Pakistan and China, aligning with broader bilateral cooperation frameworks. It offers Pakistani talent access to world-class research facilities and academic expertise in China, fostering the development of highly skilled professionals for the future.

Meanwhile in a significant session chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, the Balochistan provincial cabinet approved a series of public-friendly decisions on Wednesday, including a major electric bike scheme and a health insurance program for government employees.

The flagship decision is the introduction of an electric bike scheme designed for broad accessibility. Under the plan, a 30 percent subsidy will be provided to students, working women, and government employees. Ordinary citizens will also be able to purchase the bikes through easy bank financing installments, aiming to promote affordable and eco-friendly transportation.

Addressing the substantial healthcare costs for the provincial workforce, the cabinet approved a comprehensive health insurance scheme for all government employees.
