BEJING: In the wake of a deadly drone strike, the China embassy in Tajikistan has issued an urgent order for its citizens to immediately evacuate the volatile border region. The directive comes after an attack that resulted in the deaths of three Chinese nationals and left one injured.
According to Tajik authorities, the incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, November 26th, near the Tajik-Afghan border in the southwestern Khatlon province. The attack, which was reportedly carried out by a drone that originated from Afghanistan, targeted an area where the Chinese citizens were present. The specific nature of their work or presence in the border zone was not immediately disclosed in the initial reports.
The Chinese embassy in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe confirmed the casualties in an official statement. In response to the escalating threat, the embassy has taken the drastic step of instructing all Chinese citizens to leave the border area without delay to ensure their safety. This move underscores the serious and immediate nature of the security threat perceived by Chinese officials in the region.
Following the attack, the Chinese government has formally urged Tajik authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the full circumstances and those responsible. The embassy’s statement did not attribute blame to any specific group for the attack. Meanwhile, the Afghan administration has not yet issued any official statement regarding the allegations that the drone was launched from its territory. The incident highlights the fragile security situation in the border areas and marks a significant escalation with international implications.
Remember that recently At the United Nations, Pakistan and China called for the Taliban and the BLA to be formally designated as outlawed organizations. During a UN Security Council session, Pakistan presented a detailed report on attacks carried out by the BLA, the Taliban, and the Majeed Brigade. Pakistan’s representative, Usman Jadoon, stated that armed groups have been launching attacks on Pakistan from Afghan territory, and that Pakistani forces are actively countering ISIS-K, TTP, BLA, and the Majeed Brigade.
