CHAMAN: Earthquake tremors were felt in and around the border city of Chaman, causing widespread panic among residents who rushed out of their homes in fear.
The Quetta Seismological Center reported that the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale, with a depth of approximately 14 kilometers. The epicenter was identified to be roughly 120 kilometers away from Chaman.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, but so far, there have been no reports of injuries or significant damage. Local officials urge residents to remain vigilant as aftershocks may occur.
Meanwhile Pakistan Foils Infiltration Attempt, Arrests Afghan Militants in Chaman Sector
Pakistani security forces foiled an infiltration attempt near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Chaman sector. Several Afghan militants were arrested during the operation.
Officials said the Pakistan Army acted swiftly to stop the militants from crossing into Pakistani territory. The arrested individuals were later presented before local residents.
On seeing the militants, the local population expressed anger and outrage. Residents demanded strict action against those involved in cross-border militancy.
Authorities said the operation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to securing its borders and preventing militant infiltration from Afghanistan.
