CHAMAN: A high-level review meeting was held in Chaman to oversee the ongoing joint vaccination campaign against measles, rubella, and polio. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Habib Ahmed Bangulzai and attended by senior health officials and representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
Health department officials briefed the meeting, confirming that the intensive campaign is running from November 17 to 29. The drive involves door-to-door visits by health teams to administer vaccines to children, aiming to effectively prevent the spread of these dangerous diseases.
Addressing the officials, DC Bangulzai emphasized the critical importance of the campaign for safeguarding children’s health. He directed the health teams to utilize their professional skills to ensure the campaign’s success and to perform their duties with integrity and honesty.
The DC also made a public appeal through the media, urging all parents to cooperate with health workers and get their children vaccinated. This collective effort is essential to protect the region from infectious diseases and ensure a healthier future for its children.
Meanwhile the President of the Grand Alliance Metropolitan Corporation, Nematullah Kardan, has issued a strong statement, warning that the institution is on the verge of collapse due to government neglect and a problematic private partnership.
Kardan revealed a severe financial crisis within the corporation, stating that employees have not received their salaries for the past two months. Furthermore, employees who retired as far back as 2017 are still waiting for their gratuity and pension payments, with their salary checks being withheld for a year.
The statement placed the blame on the current government and the relevant administration for handing over the corporation to a private company. This move, according to Kardan, has led to the institution’s collapse and the destruction of machinery worth billions of rupees.
Adding to the public’s distress, the private company is allegedly forcibly collecting 500 rupees from every shopkeeper. This has caused widespread frustration, with people filing daily complaints.
