KABUL: The Taliban allowed local journalists to visit the site of a recent airstrike, providing a firsthand look at the aftermath.
After waiting overnight, media teams were granted access. On inspection, officials and reporters found no blood or evidence of major damage.
Media outlets including Zawia News and Afghan Times reported no confirmed casualties.
Although the Taliban claimed the strike hit a rehabilitation center in central Kabul, on-the-ground observations contradict the claim. Reporters saw only minor structural damage and signs of fire.
Witnesses said the explosions occurred a short distance from the alleged hospital, leaving the surrounding area intact.
Local sources confirmed damage was limited to the small area where the fire burned. No injuries were observed during the site visit.
Officials and witnesses suggested the fire may have been caused by a nearby Taliban military camp storing weapons. Secondary explosions from the ammunition stockpile likely created the flames seen at the site.
Pakistan conducted airstrikes on Afghan Taliban drone and military training facilities on Monday night. The Taliban claimed the strikes targeted Omid Hospital and killed hundreds of civilians. Fact checks, however, debunked the claim. Omid Hospital is located several kilometres away from Camp Phoenix, the military site storing weapons and ammunition that was the actual target of the airstrikes.
