QUETTA: A controversy has erupted over the cancellation of scholarships issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan Package as the Balochistan students protest.
The Project Director Dara Shakoh has allegedly revoked the scholarships of many female students too.
The students have talked to media and have said that the scholarships were meant for the unprivileged students of Balochistan , but the ‘ corrupt and biased’ project director has canceled them unlawfully.
They called it a grave injustice.
They expressed a surprised disappointment that despite raising the matter on many media and social media forum, no action has yet been taken against the Project Director Dara Shakoh and he still holds his position.
The students alleged that his discriminatory actions and injustices against Balochistan’s students may be linked to misappropriating the Rs. 2.3 billion allocated by the government for PhD programs.
They added that the lack of accountability despite repeated complaints only strengthens these suspicions.
The affected female students appealed to women’s rights organizations, including the Baloch Women Forum, to raise their voices against this injustice.
They also urged the federal and provincial governments, the education ministers, the HEC, and all relevant authorities to take immediate action against the “corrupt and prejudiced” Project Director, restore the canceled scholarships, and protect their right to education.
It is worth mentioning that the Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan package was launched to eliminate deprivation and spread encouragement among the Balochistan students.
The CM Balochistan has declared scholarships for the students from primary to higher education and Youth Skills Development and Employment Programs.
