CAA to launch charter flights for pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan has announced to launch special charter flights, aiming to facilitate pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq, following a ban on road travel for such journeys.

According to CAA official, licensed charter airlines are now authorized to operate flights specifically for Zaireen (pilgrims) heading to Iran and Iraq. The authority has also invited applications from eligible aviation companies interested in providing these services. Only airlines with valid charter licenses will be permitted to operate flights on these routes.

The decision comes in light of increasing demand for safer and more efficient transport options for religious pilgrims, particularly in the wake of security and logistical concerns associated with overland travel.
