QUETTA: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) raided and sealed an illegal production unit manufacturing counterfeit butter under the label of a popular brand, “Liaquat Makhan”, in a major operation carried out on Jan Mohammad Road in Quetta.

According to BFA officials, the unit was involved in the large-scale production of fake butter using substandard ingredients. During the raid, a significant quantity of spurious butter was recovered, along with harmful margarine, artificial cream, and poor-quality packaging material.

The inspection revealed appalling hygiene conditions in the production and storage areas of the facility. Workers lacked valid medical certificates, and the laboratory reports for the products were also found to be forged.

Authorities immediately sealed the factory and initiated further legal proceedings. Samples of the seized products have been sent for detailed laboratory analysis.

Speaking on the occasion, BFA Director General Waqar Khurshid Alam stated, “Ensuring the availability of pure and safe food to the public remains our top priority. Stern action will continue against those involved in the production of fake and harmful food items.”

The BFA has vowed to maintain strict vigilance and take uncompromising action against food adulteration to protect public health across Balochistan.
