BUITEMS earns global recognition in THE uni rankings 2026

QUETTA: The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) has brought pride to the province by securing a place in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.

In this sense, the BUITEMS remained as the only university from Balochistan to be included in this prestigious global list, ranking 43rd among Pakistani universities.

The Times Higher Education (THE), based in the United Kingdom, released its 2026 World University Rankings featuring 2,191 universities from 115 countries and regions.

The THE ranking system is considered one of the most credible and influential benchmarks in global higher education, used by students, academics, policymakers, and industry experts worldwide.

Furthermore, this year, a total of 99 Pakistani universities made it to the THE World University Rankings 2026. Among these, 48 institutions have received official rankings, and the remaining universities were designated as “reporters.” The “reporter” status indicates that these institutions participated in the assessment process but were not assigned a formal ranking.

In this regard, BUITEMS’ inclusion indicates an important achievement for higher education in Balochistan, showcasing the university’s growing academic standards, research contributions, and institutional development.

The achievement mentions the university’s commitment to providing quality education and strengthening innovation in a region often underrepresented in global academia.

Moreover, BUITEMS holds the 43rd position among Pakistani universities featured in the 2026 rankings.

On the other hand, Dow University of Health Sciences secured the 44th rank, National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) was placed at 46th, NED University of Engineering and Technology at 47th, and the University of Karachi at 48th position.

The BUITEMS in the global rankings not only strengthen its reputation but also represents a step forward for Balochistan’s educational landscape.
