QUETTA: A newly emerged faction of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), calling itself the “Rahman Gul” group, has condemned the recent attack outside the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters and vowed to pursue and eliminate those it says carried out the strike.
In a statement, the group’s leader, Halil, said elements he described as “working on an Indian agenda” of targeting civilians in the assault and said his fighters would avenge the deaths of innocent Baloch citizens. “The enemy of the common Baloch will be the enemy of our group,” Halil said.
Halil claimed the Rahman Gul faction would hunt down those responsible and hold them to account.
The Rahman Gul faction emerged publicly after the killing of a figure named captain Rahman Gul, whom local sources say was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month by operatives of the Majeed Brigade. According to sources on the ground, Majeed Brigade leader Bashir Zaib ordered the killing in retaliation for the death of his brother.
The assassination reportedly followed disputes over money distribution and influence within the militant network.
The killing is said to have been facilitated by Sapari, acting on instructions from Majrang Baloch, who allegedly sought a larger financial share from the group’s foreign funding channels.
It is pertinent to mention here that the senior commander of the Indian proxy BLA, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, has been killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Captain Rahman Gul, also known by his nom de guerre Ustad Mureed, was shot dead in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. He served as the deputy chief of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade, a suicide squad blamed for some of the group’s deadliest operations.
Gul was identified as the mastermind of the 2017 Jaffar Express bombing in Pakistan, which killed dozens of passengers and injured many more. Following the incident and other high-profile attacks, the United States formally listed the BLA as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” organization in 2019.

The BLA has carried out repeated attacks against Pakistani security forces, infrastructure projects, and Chinese nationals linked to the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The group is widely believed by Islamabad to operate with external backing.
