Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved development projects worth a total of Rs 160.2 billion.
The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Professor Ahsan Iqbal.
The session conducted a detailed review of projects related to the health, housing, and transport sectors.
In the meeting, two projects worth Rs 8.5 billion were approved, while four major projects valued at Rs 151.7 billion were forwarded to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.
The Sindh Human Capital 1000 Days Programme was also sent to ECNEC for approval; the programme aims to improve maternal and child health, nutrition, and family planning services.
According to the Planning Commission, the Hyderabad Urban Infrastructure Development Package was approved, while the Karachi Urban Infrastructure Development Package was forwarded to ECNEC. Additionally, the Sindh Flood Emergency Assistance Project was sent to ECNEC for approval, with 87 percent of its funding to be provided by the Asian Development Bank. Under this project, roads in flood-affected districts will be rehabilitated and connectivity improved.
The meeting also approved the restoration of BT roads from Liari to Lakhra and Uthal to Lakhra in Balochistan.
This project will connect Lakhra to the Makran Coastal Highway. The revised PC-I for the Winder Dam project was forwarded to ECNEC for approval; the dam’s construction will enhance irrigation and water storage capacity.
Furthermore, under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), approval was granted for the establishment of nine Seerat Chairs.
