BFA launches crackdown on contaminated crops

QUETTA: To safeguard public health and prevent toxic produce from reaching local markets, the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has started a targeted operation to destroy vegetables cultivated using sewage water.

The Balochistan Food Authority’s crackdown in Quetta focused on leafy and salad vegetables grown with untreated wastewater.

BFA Officials uprooted the standing crops and destroyed on the spot, irrigated with contaminated water. Security measures were tightened throughout the operation to ensure law and order, as officials worked to prevent any possible unrest.

Balochistan Food Minister Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar has lauded the action taken by the BFA, adding that the government will ensure safe and healthy food for the people of Balochistan. He also warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in harmful agricultural practices.
