QUETTA: The Balochistan Digital Publishers Forum (BDPF) expressed deep concern over the Balochistan government’s delay in finalizing a comprehensive digital media policy.
According to details, the Balochistan Digital Publishers Forum meeting was held under the chairmanship of Forum President Syed Ali Shah.
During the meeting, it was decided that Forum representatives would soon meet with relevant officials from the Balochistan government to discuss key issues related to the digital media policy.
BDPF also plans to present a set of recommendations aimed at aligning the policy with current media and technological trends.
In a significant development, the Forum approved the membership of the digital platform of Daily Al Jazeera Quetta. Applications from other digital media outlets were deferred until the next meeting.
BDPF strongly urged Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti to expedite the policy’s finalization. They stressed that a clear framework is essential for the promotion of digital media, ensuring transparency in the allocation of government advertisements and timely utilization of funds earmarked in the current fiscal year’s budget.

BDPF emphasized that addressing the challenges faced by digital platforms through an effective policy would greatly contribute to the growth of independent journalism and media innovation in the province.
