Bannu Update: Three terrorists killed in Bannu Police Checkpost attack

BANNU: The security forces thwarted a major terrorist attack on a police checkpost in the suburban area of Fath-e-Khel late Friday night, killing three terrorists and seizing a large cache of explosives and other material.

In this sense, a group of heavily armed terrorists launched a surprise assault on the checkpost using both light and heavy weapons. It was a coordinated move to prevent reserves from reaching the site, the attackers planted two roadside bombs and set up barricades along the access routes.

So far, one of the explosive devices was successfully defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad, while the other detonated without causing significant damage. 

Despite the ambush tactics, the additional forces led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bannu Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kalachi managed to reach the location after dismantling the barricades under heavy fire.

The senior police officers took combat positions alongside their personnel, effectively repelling the attack and inflicting significant losses on the assailants. During the exchange, three terrorists were killed, including Yasir Khan, son of Abdul Janan, a resident of Eidak Sadat, Mamash Khel, Bannu. Several other militants fled the scene with injuries.

Meanwhile, one police officer got martyrdom during the fierce gunbattle. This successful counterterrorism operation underlines the resolve and availability of the police and security agencies to defend the peace and security of the region.
