PESHAWAR: A Frontier Corps (FC) check post in Bannu came under drone attack, leaving one soldier martyred and three others injured. The attack occurred in the Takhti Khel area of Baka Khel, according to DPO Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kalachi.
Militants used a quadcopter drone to target the FC post. The injured soldiers were rushed to a nearby hospital. Medical teams provided immediate aid.
Security forces responded swiftly. FC and police launched a search operation in the surrounding areas. Authorities have since tightened security checks and increased patrols across the region.
The use of a drone has alarmed law enforcement. Agencies believe militant groups are adopting new tactics. Investigators are tracing the drone’s origin and those behind the attack.
In a separate incident, a terrorist attack on a police checkpost claimed the life of Constable Niaz. The attack took place late Friday night in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A group of heavily armed militants stormed the police checkpoint. They used sophisticated and heavy weapons. A fierce exchange of fire followed.
Constable Niaz embraced martyrdom while defending his post. Three others—Constable Munir, Constable Saudad, and Mufti Mahmood—were injured. They were shifted to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.
