Balochistan University wins youth film festival on climate change

Quetta – The Department of Media Studies at the University of Balochistan achieved a remarkable distinction by securing first place at the National Climate Justice Youth Film Festival 2025, held in Islamabad.

The festival was organized by Indus Consortium, and the award ceremony took place on August 18 at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad, with Senator Sherry Rehman serving as the chief guest.

The University of Balochistan was the only university from the province to participate in the competition.

The winning video was produced by students Muhammad Haris, Faisal Ali, Anjela Kainat, and Robeisha Naz.

This achievement reflects the students’ dedication, creative talent, and strong awareness about environmental issues.

The primary objective of such workshops and festivals is to encourage youth to use creative platforms like films and media to highlight pressing global issues, particularly climate change.

By engaging students in storytelling, the initiatives aim to raise awareness, build critical thinking, and inspire innovative solutions for environmental justice.
