QUETTA: The Balochistan government will present a surplus budget for the 2024–25 fiscal year on Tuesday (tomorrow).
Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani will present the budget, which is expected to exceed Rs1 trillion.
Under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, Balochistan will receive Rs743 billion from federal revenues. This amount includes shares from divisible pool taxes and direct transfers from natural resources like gas.
Officials also expect an additional Rs70 billion in federal funds.
Balochistan’s own revenue, from taxes and non-tax sources, is estimated to cross Rs150 billion.
Non-development expenditure is projected to go beyond Rs700 billion. Development spending could exceed Rs240 billion, using the province’s own funds.
The government plans to allocate major funds to education, health, law and order, agriculture, and infrastructure.
The education sector may receive over Rs160 billion. Law and order could get more than Rs100 billion. Health services are likely to get around Rs80 billion.
The government also plans to raise the salaries of provincial employees. This move will match the federal government’s recent pay increase.
