Balochistan to launch "People’s Train" service

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has decided to launch a new “People’s Train” service in collaboration with Pakistan Railways. The service will run between Sariab and Kuchlak, aiming to provide affordable and modern transportation to residents of Quetta and surrounding areas.

As part of the project, five old railway stations will be upgraded and two new stations will be constructed. Pakistan Railways will also upgrade the existing track to increase the train’s speed and efficiency.

Balochistan’s Department of Transport and Pakistan Railways will take joint steps to make the project feasible and sustainable. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the People’s Train will offer comfortable and quality travel options to the public.

He described the initiative as a step toward realizing the dream of modern and affordable transportation for the people. “The train service will save time and ease daily commutes for citizens of Quetta,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that upgraded stations will feature modern amenities to provide a safe and dignified environment for passengers. “This is the first step toward progress, and more initiatives will follow soon,” he promised.

He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to introducing public-friendly and long-lasting transportation solutions.
