Balochistan to establish first medical, dental & nursing college

QUETTA: In a landmark initiative to promote quality medical education in the province, the Government of Balochistan has signed an agreement with Harley Health Care Services to establish the first-ever Medical, Dental, and Nursing College through a public-private partnership.

Briefing Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, officials said the institution will admit 100 students each year in medical, dental, nursing, and allied sciences programs. Out of these, 16 outstanding students will be awarded full scholarships annually. The project will later be expanded in phases to accommodate up to 600 students.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti hailed the project as a milestone for medical education in the province. “By providing world-class medical education to our youth, we will prepare the future doctors and nurses of Balochistan. For the first time, students will be able to access high-quality education locally, benefiting every segment of society,” he said.

He further emphasized that talented students from remote areas will also benefit from this initiative, which he termed a practical step towards strengthening the province’s healthcare system. The CM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reforms and development in the education and health sectors, calling them top priorities of his administration.

The MoU was signed by Secretary Higher Education Saleh Muhammad Baloch and CEO Harley Health Care Services Dr. Azhar Aslam. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Bugti, Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Provincial Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panizai, Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Chairman of the Balochistan Public-Private Partnership Authority Dr. Faisal Khan, and Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilal Khan Kakar.
